Kappa Sigma has a rich heritage of history and tradition, stretching all the way back to our traditional founding in Bologna, Italy around 1400 A.D.  The Order of Kappa Sigma expanded among the universities of renaissance Europe, and provided mutual protection and support for its members as they sought their education.  The American founders of Kappa Sigma wanted to continue this European tradition and on December 10^th 1869 the Kappa Sigma Fraternity was founded at the University of Virginia in Charlottesville, Virginia. 

Today, one-hundred and thirty five years after its American founding, Kappa Sigma stands as one of the strongest fraternities in the world.  Nationally, Kappa Sigma is number one for recruitment the past three years in a row, pledging more men than any other national fraternity.  Kappa Sigma has over 250,000 brothers world wide, with over 11,000 Undergraduates enrolled on campuses in over 250 Chapters and Colonies, all of whom are united as brothers by; The Star and Crescent, the ritual of Kappa Sigma, and by “The Four Pillars of Kappa Sigma.”

Here at UNT, the Epsilon-Upsilon Chapter of the Kappa Sigma Fraternity and its brothers strive each day to live and embody the ideals of Fellowship, Leadership, Scholarship and Service.  These standards are called “The Four Pillars of Kappa Sigma,” and each one signifies part of the fraternities’ purpose.  Kappa Sigma’s at UNT frequently hold positions in NT40, Order of Omega, and the Inter-Fraternity Council in addition to many other Campus organizations. The Chapter wants the best for its members, the Greek system, the University of North Texas and the community.  Kappa Sigma’s regularly interact with campus officials, faculty, community leaders, other fraternities, and of course the many lovely ladies of the UNT Greek system.  The Epsilon-Upsilon Chapter of the Kappa Sigma Fraternity is here to stay.  The Most Wanted Men of UNT walk through campus each day, proud of what they are a part of; Kappa Sigma... a brotherhood that is SECOND TO NONE! 

Above all else, all true Kappa Sigmas never forget to keep their brothers in heart, because they realize and trust that Kappa Sigma is not for a day, an hour, or a college term only... BUT FOR LIFE!
